Now that you’ve got a wedding to plan, there’s a chance you might be wondering if you should have an engagement session or not. I know how the wedding planning process can be a tough one with all its pressure, but remember that it can be made easy with the help of a wedding planner.

Now, let me tell you why an engagement photo session is a must-have:

To preserve memories

Your engagement is for a short time - it’s here today and gone in probably a few months, and soon you’ll be saying your wedding vows. Having an engagement shoot is the best way to document and preserve the memories of this awesome moment that will last a lifetime. Think of it as your love story told in pictures.

You get to know your photographer

Getting to know you and your partner before the wedding day is one reason why an engagement session is one of my favorite shoots to do.

That way, you can see how I work behind the camera and answer all your questions. I, on the other hand, will watch how you both interact with each other and take note of every single detail to help determine what photography style suits you both.

I’m going to be with you for long hours on your wedding day - capturing the intimate and special moments of your celebration, from the getting-ready process to your wedding exit and everything in between, it’s only natural I get working with you now.

You become comfortable with the camera

The truth is you can’t remember that last time you were photographed professionally, and you already feel awkward trying to figure out how to pose, or the best way to smile. Unless you’re a model who is used to being the focus of the camera lens - you probably would feel nervous seeing the photographer capture your every move. An engagement session aims to help you loosen up and make you more comfortable in front of the camera. You can think of it as a trial run for your wedding day photo session.

They are perfect for ‘save the dates’ and more

Save the date cards, wedding invitations, customized guest books, wedding website, personalized table numbers, cake decorations, murals for your head table, family presents, photo montage for your rehearsal or reception dinner, party favor, or gifts for guests. There a lot of creative and fun ways to put your engagement photos to use. And don’t forget that they make great reminders of the love you both share when you hang them in your new home.

A great time to bond

I can bet that both you and your partner are having a hard time getting some me-time - not with all the work that comes with preparing for a wedding. Take advantage of an engagement shoot - explore your favorite place, spend time in each other’s company, soak up in the love you both share, and let my camera do the documenting. Forget the troubles of planning a wedding now, it’s just you and your partner on a mission to create a collection of sweet memories.
